Job summary

Sambatek, LLC is seeking a senior water resources engineer to lead the design and implementation of water resources solutions for transportation and land development projects. The role focuses on advanced hydraulic and hydrologic design, modeling, and plan development, setting design standards, and ensuring technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• 6–8 years of relevant experience in water resources design and analysis.
• Minnesota Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Experience with MnDOT drainage design procedures and standards.
• Proficiency in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling tools such as HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, XP-SWMM, and others.
• Strong working knowledge of OpenRoads Designer and MicroStation.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, mentor others, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee water resources components of transportation and land development projects through planning, design, and construction phases.
• Develop and review hydraulic and hydrologic models, drainage reports, storm sewer design, culvert design, and stormwater management systems.
• Serve as a technical lead for MnDOT and municipal projects, ensuring compliance with agency standards, manuals, and specifications.
• Prepare and review plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water resources design elements.
• Oversee and perform design using MicroStation, GEOPAK, and OpenRoads Designer, ensuring quality and efficiency in deliverables.
• Maintain and strengthen client relationships through clear communication, proactive problem-solving, and high-quality project delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to project engineers, EITs, and designers.
• Support proposal development, scope definition, and project budgeting in collaboration with project managers and business development teams.
• Promote cross-departmental collaboration and uphold Sambatek’s standards of technical excellence and client service.
