Job summary

LVI Associates in Columbia, SC, is seeking a senior Water Resources Engineer to lead complex hydraulic and hydrologic studies across flood risk, watershed management, and climate resiliency projects. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Coastal, or related Engineering discipline.
  • PE license required.
  • 10+ years of experience in water resources, hydrology, hydraulics, or related infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with stormwater management, flood modeling, watershed analysis, or water systems planning.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard modeling tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, or ICPR preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, engineering calculations, and data analysis across water resources projects.
  • Support design and evaluation for drainage networks, stormwater infrastructure, dams, flood control systems, and watershed plans.
  • Contribute to studies involving floodplain mapping, climate adaptation, water quality, and integrated resource planning.
  • Deliver technical reports, design docs, and modeling outputs to support project objectives.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical oversight to junior engineers and analysts.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on planning, permitting, and infrastructure design projects.
  • Assist in preparing proposals, scopes, and technical approaches in response to client opportunities.
  • Engage with clients through meetings, presentations, and ongoing project communication.
  • Support thought leadership through technical knowledge sharing and internal best practices.

Join a well-established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in the Southeast with a strong reputation across water resources, hydraulic modeling, watershed management, and climate resiliency. The team delivers complex, high-impact projects spanning water supply planning, flood risk management, stormwater systems, and environmental infrastructure.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of technical projects while working alongside experienced project and technical leaders. The position is based in a regional office environment, supporting both local and broader regional initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, engineering calculations, and data analysis across a range of water resources projects
  • Support design and evaluation efforts for systems such as drainage networks, stormwater infrastructure, dams, flood control systems, and watershed plans

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Coastal, or related Engineering discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • 10+ years of experience in water resources, hydrology/hydraulics, or related infrastructure projects
  • Strong technical background in areas such as stormwater management, flood modeling, watershed analysis, or water systems planning
  • Experience with industry-standard modeling tools (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, or equivalent) preferred
  • Proven ability to manage technical deliverables and guide junior staff
  • Exposure to client interaction and proposal support is advantageous
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
