Job summary

TYG in Charlotte, NC seeks an experienced Stormwater Engineer to lead complex water resources projects, mentor a growing team, and grow client relationships.

You will oversee planning, design, and implementation of stormwater, drainage, watershed planning, and flood mitigation projects, using HEC-RAS and SWMM among other tools.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of stormwater or water resources engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • PE license is required.
  • Experience leading projects and mentoring teams.
  • Strong background in stormwater, drainage, watershed planning and flood mitigation.
  • Experience with hydraulic/hydrologic modeling tools (HEC-RAS, SWMM).
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of complex stormwater and water resources projects from planning through design and implementation.
  • Manage scope, schedules, budgets, and technical quality while ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with clients, agencies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership on stormwater, drainage, watershed and flood mitigation projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help grow and strengthen the team.
  • Support business development by maintaining client relationships and identifying opportunities.
  • Deliver sustainable, innovative engineering solutions across infrastructure projects.

Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Stormwater Engineer to step into a leadership role, managing complex water resources projects while helping grow and mentor a high-performing team. You'll oversee a diverse portfolio of projects spanning stormwater management, watershed planning, drainage design, flood mitigation, and environmental compliance, working closely with both public and private sector clients.

The Ideal Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in stormwater or water resources engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and managing or mentoring engineering teams
  • Strong technical background in stormwater management, drainage design, watershed planning, and flood mitigation
  • Experience using hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software such as HEC-RAS, SWMM, or similar programs
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
