Job summary

King County seeks Wastewater Treatment Operator/Senior Operator to support day-to-day plant operations at the South Plant in Renton. You will monitor, operate, and troubleshoot treatment systems, perform sampling, and help maintain compliance with federal and state permits.

The role requires strong teamwork, safety compliance, and the ability to work rotating shifts. Opportunities for growth exist within the Wastewater Treatment Division.

Qualifications

• Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting primary wastewater treatment equipment and processes.
• Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting solids handling equipment and processes.
• Knowledge of wastewater terminology and process control.
• Knowledge of industrial safety procedures and practice.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, troubleshoot and maintain wastewater systems to meet permit requirements.
• Support other staff and contractors, ensuring cross-team cooperation.
• Perform maintenance on plant facilities and equipment, keep logs and reports up to date.
• Respond to unusual events and assist with on-site emergencies as needed.
