Job summary

The City of Camas is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to operate a wide range of treatment equipment and processes under the guidance of the Wastewater Operations Manager and Utilities Manager.

This full-time role offers union representation through AFSCME Local 307CC and a comprehensive benefits package. Training hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; after training, a 4-10 dayshift schedule will apply, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with specialized training in wastewater treatment plant operations/maintenance or related field.
• Two years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance and operation of a wastewater treatment plant and pumping facility.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Possession of a Washington State Group 1 Wastewater Operator certificate or the ability to obtain within six months of hire date.

Job description

The City of Camas is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator who will primarily operate a wide variety of wastewater treatment equipment and processes. The individual selected for this position will work under the supervision of the Wastewater Operations Manager and the Utilities Manager.

This facility is staffed 7 days/week. The hours for this position during training will be Monday – Friday, 7am to 3:30pm. Upon completion of training, the schedule will be a 4-10 dayshift schedule and will include working weekends and holidays.

• The position is represented by AFSCME, Local 307CC and is eligible for a full benefits package.

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in wastewater treatment plant operations and/or maintenance or a related field
• Two years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance and operation of a wastewater treatment plant and pumping facility
• Possession of a valid driver’s license
• Possession of a Washington State Group 1 Wastewater Operator certificate or the ability to obtain within six months of hire date
