Job summary

City of Seattle seeks a Water Treatment Plant Operator to support the Tolt Water Treatment Facility and serve as Shift Operator in Responsible Charge across rotating day, night, and weekend shifts. You will monitor plant systems on site and via SCADA, adjust equipment, and compile data for reporting to ensure safe drinking water for customers.

You will train and mentor junior operators, uphold treatment standards, and collaborate to maintain public health and regulatory compliance at SPU

Qualifications

• 18 months of experience in water treatment or water quality with a water utility.
• WA Level 3 Water Treatment Plant Operator certification or higher, or equivalent from another state.
• Ability to operate SCADA and monitor plant systems onsite.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• May serve as the Shift Operator in Responsible Charge during day, night, and weekend shifts.
• Operate and monitor the water treatment facility and SCADA systems.
• Adjust and maintain treatment equipment and chemical feeders.
• Train and mentor lower-level water treatment operators.
• Prepare data, reports, and documentation for reporting and performance tracking.
