Job summary

The City of Tacoma's Environment & Public Works Department is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join a platinum award winning team in Tacoma. You will operate and maintain wastewater treatment processes, oversee sludge processing, perform compliance testing, and interpret meters and lab results to ensure optimal plant performance.

Candidates will have high school graduation and related coursework, plus at least one year of wastewater plant operation experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school including training or coursework in wastewater plant operation.
• One year of experience in operation of a wastewater treatment plant.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment in a wastewater treatment plant.
• Start and regulate operation of motors and pumps to control flow of wastewater.
• Operate and control computer systems and related equipment.
• Perform operational laboratory analysis to monitor plant efficiency.
• Keep daily logs and reports; perform minor repairs as needed.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of plant and grounds.
