Job summary

Seattle Public Utilities seeks a Water Treatment Plant Operator to ensure safe, high-quality drinking water for Seattle and wholesale customers. You will operate the Tolt Facility, serve as Shift Operator in Responsible Charge across rotating days, nights, and weekends, and mentor junior operators.

Qualified candidates will have 18 months in water treatment, WA Level 3 certification or equivalent, and experience with SCADA systems and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• 18 months of experience in water treatment or water quality with a utility.
• Demonstrated knowledge of drinking water treatment processes and regulations.
• Ability to operate and monitor plant systems onsite and via SCADA.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Shift Operator in Responsible Charge during rotating day, night, and weekend shifts.
• Operate and monitor water treatment plant equipment and SCADA data.
• Train and mentor operators in treatment techniques and safe work practices.
• Maintain documentation and reports for regulatory and performance tracking.
