Job summary

King County is seeking a Field Technician to assist with flow monitoring site investigations and data collection for the Wastewater Treatment Division. You will install, troubleshoot, and maintain monitoring equipment, collect and verify data, and document findings in field reports.

The role operates in a live sewer environment, requiring safety adherence, teamwork, and the ability to work outdoors. This full-time position is based at the South Treatment Plant in Renton, WA.

Qualifications

• Good mechanical skills and manual dexterity, ability to use essential hand and power tools safely.
• Ability to work with a diverse group and handle difficult conversations.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow standard work processes and deadlines.
• Self-motivated to maintain data standards in the group.
• Proficiency with computers including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and data reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist in flow monitoring site investigations and prepare inspection reports.
• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain conveyance flow monitoring equipment.
• Collect data and verify accuracy, perform flow verification at sites.
• Take detailed field notes and document work performed.
• Maintain vehicle and equipment for safety and productive operation.
• Adhere to safety procedures and policies.
• Assist in Traffic Control/Flagging operations.
• Support other WTD Monitoring programs as needed.
