Job summary

Interstate Waste Services in New Jersey seeks an Operations Supervisor II to lead waste-collection activities across multiple lines, supervise drivers, and partner with the Hauling Manager on safety, efficiency and budget goals.

You will drive safety programs, optimize routes, ensure DOT compliance, and enhance customer experience while engaging staff for continuous improvement. A robust analytical mindset and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in waste management operations.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience in waste management, transportation, and/or logistics services.
• Experience with route optimization and efficiency improvement.
• Knowledge of DOT requirements for commercial vehicles.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Knowledge of PowerBI preferred.
• Computer skills (Microsoft Outlook and basic Excel).
• Defensive Driving (Smith System 5 Keys).

Responsibilities

• Oversee route planning and safety awareness to meet goals and safety standards.
• Lead and coach drivers, ensuring fit for duty, PPE compliance, and safe driving.
• Monitor and improve customer experience through timely communications and issue resolution.
• Analyze route performance and ensure pickups are completed on time.
• Ensure DOT compliance, environmental compliance, and regulatory paperwork.
• Foster employee engagement and develop talent within the team.
