Job summary

Interstate Waste Services seeks an Operations Supervisor I to oversee collection operations across multiple lines of business in the Jersey City area. You will manage drivers and helpers, enforce safety standards, and work with dispatch and maintenance to optimize routes and service quality.

The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and outstanding customer experience, with a focus on adherence to DOT regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

0-1+ years of experience in waste management operations or related field.
Associate’s degree or higher in Business, Logistics, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge of DOT requirements for commercial vehicles.
Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Supervise drivers and helpers across one or more lines of business (commercial, residential, roll-off, container delivery).
Monitor safety programs and ensure compliance with DOT, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Plan routes, assess efficiency, and work with dispatch to optimize performance and service delivery.
Engage with customers to ensure a high-quality experience and address issues.
Collaborate with maintenance to keep equipment safe and in proper working order.
Lead by example to promote a culture of safety and employee engagement.
