Job summary

Interstate Waste Services, Inc. is seeking an Operations Supervisor II to oversee collections activities across multiple lines (commercial, residential, roll-off, container delivery).

You will lead drivers, coordinate with the Hauling Manager, and ensure safety, efficiency, and customer experience while maintaining regulatory and environmental standards. The role requires 3+ years in waste operations and 2+ years supervising, with strong analytical skills and knowledge of DOT rules.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in waste management operations.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience in waste management, transportation, and/or logistics.
• Experience with route optimization and efficiency improvement.
• Knowledge of DOT requirements for commercial vehicles.
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Power BI knowledge or experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
• Desire and ability to learn the company’s software applications.
• Defensive Driving (Smith System 5 Keys).
• Associate’s degree or higher in Business, Logistics, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Route planning and safety: oversee driver readiness, safety goals, and route protections.
• Customer experience: meet/exceed customer expectations and resolve issues with stakeholders.
• Efficiency: analyze route performance and ensure timely pickups; optimize weight audits and avoid cancelled routes.
• Employee engagement: build a collaborative team and coach for advancement.
• Compliance: ensure DOT, safety, environmental and regulatory standards are followed and documented.
