Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions in Ashburn, VA is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer for an onsite role. You will design and develop 3U/6U VPX SBCs, FPGA and I/O cards, and custom systems incorporating power and thermal management.

The position requires DoD embedded hardware experience and strong multi-disciplinary collaboration. Responsibilities include translating requirements into hardware, conducting analyses, and supporting verification, qualification, and production activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of DoD embedded systems and hardware design experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering, project management, test, and operations teams to meet demanding, schedule-driven customer requirements.
• Design and develop 3U and 6U VPX SBC, FPGA, switch, and I/O cards for high-speed data processing applications.
• Develop custom form-factor systems with SBC, FPGA, switch, I/O cards, power supplies, and thermal management including Liquid-Flow-Through methods.
• Translate system requirements into practical hardware designs and contribute to decisions on performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
• Perform hardware design analysis, troubleshooting, and evaluations across the development lifecycle.
• Support hardware verification, qualification, and production activities with test plans and issue resolution.
• Apply engineering best practices to improve product performance, reliability, and time-to-market.
• Develop and maintain technical procedures, design documentation, and engineering manuals.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
