Job summary

The Opportunity Alliance is seeking a Volunteer Program Coordinator for the Senior Volunteer Programs (FGP/SCP) in South Portland. You will manage recruitment, screening, placements, supervision and recognition for volunteers aged 55+.

You will staff the Senior Volunteer Advisory Council and report to the Senior Volunteer Program Director. The role is full-time, 32 hours/week, primarily on-site with some local travel to program sites.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Knowledge of volunteerism and awareness of older adults 55+ and poverty.
• Knowledge of resources for adults living in poverty.
• 2+ years in volunteer administration; supervising adults 55+ and those in poverty.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; able to work independently or in a team.
• Able to pass criminal background checks and related screenings.
• Must have a good driving record and reliable vehicle for local travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional volunteer management for Senior Volunteer Programs.
• Recruit, screen, interview, place, supervise and recognize volunteers 55+.
• Staff a Senior Volunteer Advisory Council committee and coordinate activities.
• Work under supervision of the Senior Volunteer Program Director.
