Job summary

Lumistry is seeking a Senior Voice Operations Engineer to operate, secure, and modernize the infrastructure behind Lumistry Voice. The distributed fleet includes about 8,000 Linux systems, running LAMP and voice services like Asterisk and FreePBX across cloud and on-site deployments.

This senior IC role requires deep Linux and VoIP expertise, with strong scripting, automation, and incident-response skills. Remote US-based work, with no on-call rotation, and a compensation range of $120k–$130k

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Senior-level Linux administration and troubleshooting across a large distributed fleet.
• Deep production experience with Asterisk, FreePBX, SIP, RTP, SDP, and IP telephony.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, routing, firewalls, VLANs, TLS, and Linux networking.
• Experience managing enterprise SIP phones, provisioning templates, firmware, trunks and escalations.
• Strong Bash, Python or similar scripting, with Git and configuration-management tooling.
• Sound communication, documentation practices, and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Operate, secure, patch, and maintain ~8,000 Linux systems and voice services.
• Manage provisioning templates, configuration generation, firmware, certificates, remote deployments.
• Support carrier-grade SIP infrastructure: trunks, SBCs, DIDs, routing, E911, STIR/SHAKEN, caller ID.
• Automate fleet management, deployments, and recovery using scripts, APIs, Git, and CI/CD.
• Improve monitoring, runbooks, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
• Plan safe, staged deployments with validation and rollback procedures.
• Troubleshoot Asterisk, FreePBX, SIP, SDP, RTP, NAT, and related issues using logs and captures.
• Collaborate with Voice Eng., Platform Services, Customer Ops, Support, Product, and partners.
