Senior VoIP Manager – Apt

We are looking for a Senior VoIP Manager to lead the strategy, delivery, and operational excellence of VoIP and unified communications platforms, including MetaSwitch and BroadWorks. This role oversees a team of engineers, ensures high availability of voice services, drives platform evolution, and serves as the top escalation point for complex network and customer-impacting issues. The position partners closely with Operations, Architecture, Product, and key vendors to deliver reliable, scalable, and modern telecom services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a high‑performing engineering/operations team supporting MetaSwitch and BroadWorks platforms.
  • Oversee feature deployments, upgrades, patches, migrations, and capacity planning.
  • Establish architecture standards, best practices, and operational guidelines for VoIP and voice switching.
  • Ensure service reliability, redundancy, disaster recovery readiness, and SLA compliance.
  • Direct troubleshooting and resolution of major outages, routing failures, and escalated service issues.
  • Manage vendor relationships, support escalations, and platform roadmap engagement.
  • Collaborate with Product and Architecture teams to design new VoIP and unified communications services.
  • Oversee budgets, vendor contracts, licensing, and operational spend.
  • Maintain documentation, runbooks, and escalation processes.
  • Monitor industry trends (cloud voice, SIP modernization, NFV, IMS/5G) and recommend improvements.
  • Support interconnect management, carrier agreements, traffic settlement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide leadership during outages, fraud events, and routing incidents.
  • Define KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • 10+ years in voice/telecom engineering, including 5–7 years in leadership roles.
  • Deep expertise with MetaSwitch and strong experience with BroadWorks or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of SIP, SS7, RTP, QoS, codecs, SBCs, SIP trunking, and interconnect architectures.
  • Experience managing large‑scale deployments, migrations, and complex operations.
  • Familiarity with 911/NG911, LNP, CNAM, ENUM, numbering, and telecom regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of OSS/BSS, network security, and fraud prevention.
  • Willingness to participate in on‑call and after‑hours escalation.
Preferred
  • Experience with cloud voice, NFV, microservices, containerized telecom functions.
  • Exposure to IMS, VoLTE/VoWiFi, 5G, and hybrid legacy–cloud architectures.
  • Background managing distributed engineering or operations teams.
  • Relevant telecom, SBC, or cloud certifications.
