Job summary

BCforward is seeking a Senior Voice/Telecommunications Engineer to join our team in Charlotte, NC. The role focuses on carrier-level SIP trunking, session border controllers, and integration with Avaya, Cisco, and Genesys to deliver complex SIP-based voice solutions.

You will lead program delivery, prepare ROM/SOW quotes, and create BOMs while coordinating with leadership and PMO. A strong background in SBCs, security services, E911, and LAN/WAN is required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of telecommunications experience with carrier-level SIP trunking and session border controllers.
• Proficiency with SIP, RTP/RTCP, ISDN, H.323, H.248, MGCP, and common codecs.
• Experience with QoS design and tuning, jitter analysis, and bandwidth analysis.
• Knowledge of LAN/WAN, switches, routers, call flows, system architecture, and implementation principles.

Responsibilities

• Provide program guidance and develop engineering-driven timelines in partnership with the program management office.
• Develop ROM/SOW quotes for equipment placement and licensing, including supporting documentation.
• Create Bills of Materials, cost estimates, and equipment placement requests for projects.
• Directly support business-initiated projects and provide clear status updates to leadership.
• Engineer and support complex integrated configurations across SBCs, security services, E911, SIP and session management, LAN/WAN, VoIP, and Toll Free, integrating with Avaya, Cisco, and Genesys.
• Perform SIT testing, document results, and develop scripts, MOPs, and low-level designs for SBC, security, E911, and integrations.
• Prepare communication materials for senior leadership and align deliverables with architecture and engineering standards.

Job Description

We are seeking a RTC Voice Access and Security Services Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in carrier transport, SIP access, and session border controller engineering and a proven ability to lead program delivery, produce engineering documentation, and communicate status and risks to senior leadership.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Hands-on configuration and troubleshooting of SBCs, preferably Ribbon 7k, and SIP/TDM trunking.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to learn and document new technologies and procedures.
• 3-5 years of experience in LAN/WAN networking and enterprise voice environments.
• Proficiency with Agile tools such as Jira for tracking and reporting.
• BA or BS in Telecommunications, Data Communications, Computer Science, or related field.

Preferred Skills

• Experience producing executive-ready communications, including PowerPoint, Visio diagrams, and structured program updates.
• Background supporting Avaya, Cisco, and Genesys integrations for SIP, E911, and security services.
