Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior VMware and network virtualization engineer to support a DoD test facility in Colorado Springs. You will lead deployment, patching, and security hardening of vSphere, NSX, and vSAN, while ensuring DoD compliance and incident response.

The role requires 10+ years of IT experience, 5+ years in virtualization, leadership experience, and an active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Ten or more years of general full-time work experience.
• Five or more years in network/virtualization engineering or administration.
• Experience in a leadership or management role.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for briefings and docs.

Responsibilities

• Support build-out and deployment activities for the C2BMC Test Facility.
• Administer, configure, patch, and maintain VMware environments (vSphere, NSX, vSAN).
• Remediate vulnerabilities and maintain DoD compliance.
• Monitor systems, perform backups, upgrades, and availability checks.
• Provide root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Assist with deployment and migration of VMs and workloads.
• Configure NSX networking (firewalling, NAT, load balancing, micro-segmentation).
• Document changes and incidents in approved records.
• Collaborate with administrators, engineers, cybersecurity, and stakeholders.
