Job summary

Pennymac is seeking a First Vice President, Mortgage Operations Assistant General Counsel to support nationwide federal and state court litigation for all Pennymac entities. This role oversees outside counsel strategies, legal document reviews, corporate reporting, and internal litigation support teams.

Ideal candidates are licensed attorneys (CA or TX preferred) with deep experience in mortgage servicing-related defense litigation, civil procedure, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams

Qualifications

• Licensed attorney with CA or TX license preferred.
• Broad knowledge of mortgage origination or servicing, especially foreclosure and loss mitigation.
• Significant experience in business litigation, preferably mortgage servicing-related defense litigation.
• Experience managing attorneys and paralegals is preferred.
• Understanding of civil litigation procedures and local rules for state and federal courts.
• Class action and trial experience is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and with attorneys, litigation specialists and management.
• Excellent writing and organizational skills with good judgment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email; ability to create reports and processes.
• Experience with mortgage servicing systems is preferred.
• Team player with attention to detail and ability to deliver timely information in fast-paced environments.
• Strong business acumen and ability to interface with executive management.

Responsibilities

• Support nationwide federal and state court litigation across Pennymac entities.
• Oversee outside counsel strategies, litigation direction, and budgeting.
• Review pleadings, motions, and appellate briefs; supervise litigation specialists.
• Prepare litigation risk and case status reports for senior management and investors.
• Collaborate with internal management and cross-functional teams on active matters.
• Perform related duties as assigned and align with company culture and values.
