Job summary

Steampunk, Inc. is seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to guide government clients through our Design Intelligence framework, applying human-centered methods from discovery through interface design.

You will research, prototype, iterate, and test UX across platforms while advocating for user needs in proposed solutions. You will participate in discovery workshops, translate insights into artifacts like personas and journey maps, and collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team in an Agile environment

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional UX and UI experience across multi-platform digital products.
• Current portfolio demonstrating ideology, methods, tools, skills, and craft.
• Primary and secondary user research including interviews, discovery and co-creation workshops, heuristic evaluation, and card sorting.
• UI design including wireframes, low/high-fidelity prototyping, usability and accessibility testing.
• Knowledge of 508 compliance requirements.
• Experience on a scrum team within Agile delivery and writing user stories.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, Zeplin.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government Public Trust clearance.
• Collaborative cross-functional team experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all aspects of the discovery process to understand client mission and goals, stakeholders, users, ecosystems, and journeys.
• Conduct workshops and interviews to frame pain points, opportunities, and create a vision.
• Translate insights into personas, journey maps, and digital experiences.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and users on a cross-functional Agile team.
• Design intuitive, accessible interfaces and support test-and-learn iterations.
• Ensure deliverables across projects meet high quality standards.
• Work within technology constraints of platforms and environments.
