Job summary

Steampunk is seeking a UX/UI Designer to guide government clients through our Design Intelligence framework from discovery to interface design. You will conduct user research, prototype, test, and iterate while ensuring accessibility and usability across platforms.

The role requires strong collaboration with stakeholders in an Agile environment, a solid portfolio, and 4+ years of UX/UI experience. Bloomington, IL-based, on‑site position.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of UX and UI experience designing for multi‑platform digital products.
• Portfolio demonstrating ideation, methods, tools and craft.
• Primary and secondary user research including interviews, workshops, heuristics, and card sorting.
• UI design including wireframes, low/high‑fi prototypes, testing, and accessibility.
• Knowledge of 508 compliance requirements.
• Experience on a scrum team within Agile delivery; writing user stories.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, Zeplin.

Responsibilities

• Participate in discovery to understand client goals, users and ecosystems.
• Lead workshops/interviews to frame pain points and opportunities.
• Create journey maps, personas, and information architecture artifacts.
• Translate user needs into implementable digital experiences.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in an agile environment.
• Design intuitive, accessible interfaces and iterate through test‑learn cycles.
• Ensure all deliverables meet high quality across projects.
