Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Development Director for the Central Region to lead utility-scale solar, wind, and storage projects from greenfield to construction. You will build cross-functional teams, drive project economics, and manage external consultants with executive-level communication.

The role requires 11+ years of experience in energy development, a relevant degree, and the ability to influence stakeholders without direct reports. Travel up to 50% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 11 years of relevant work experience including 4 years in utility-scale development.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects without direct reporting authority.
• Strong knowledge of land, permitting, interconnection, and project economics.
• Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects from greenfield to construction.
• Lead cross-functional teams and external consultants on high-priority projects.
• Manage full project lifecycle: due diligence, land control, permitting, interconnection, and readiness for construction.
• Define project strategy, priorities, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
• Lead cost-estimating and EPC-bidding with stakeholders to improve cost certainty.
• Negotiate with landowners, utilities, regulators, and partners; manage key relationships.
• Support power marketing, tax equity, and financing with solid project inputs.
• Provide mentorship and shape regional development strategy and processes.
