Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Senior Electrical Utility & Infrastructure Engineer to serve as the technical liaison between Blue Origin and electrical utility providers, ensuring reliable and scalable power delivery across launch facilities, manufacturing, and test sites.

The role focuses on capacity planning, site development, and internal reliability improvements, with a PE license and extensive HV experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• PE license in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Demonstrated experience interfacing with electrical utility providers on technical and contractual matters.
• Proficiency with medium and high voltage electrical distribution systems.
• Strong understanding of power system analysis, load flow studies, and reliability concepts.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical liaison between Blue Origin and electrical utility providers across sites.
• Manage service agreements, tariff structures, interconnection agreements, and utility coordination requests.
• Monitor utility performance and enforce contracted service levels and reliability standards.
• Resolve power delivery issues in coordination with utility companies and internal stakeholders.
• Forecast short- and long-term electrical power demands at new and existing sites.
• Lead utility feasibility studies and service availability assessments during site selection and development phases.
• Develop load growth projections and coordinate infrastructure upgrade plans with utility providers.
• Support capital project planning with utility cost and timeline inputs.
• Conduct continuous improvement analysis of internal electrical distribution systems to identify gaps in reliability and redundancy.
• Develop and maintain standards for electrical infrastructure design, including backup power and failover systems.
• Lead RCA investigations for power-related incidents and drive corrective actions to closure.
• Collaborate with engineering, facilities, and operations teams to implement upgrades and document infrastructure.
• Maintain single-line diagrams, utility records, and infrastructure documentation.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, NERC and local tariffs.
