Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Sr. Utilities Engineer to optimize and manage utility systems across facilities, focusing on industrial refrigeration, boiler, and compressed air systems.

You will troubleshoot, implement new projects, and guide on regulatory matters to support Smithfield, Eckrich, Nathan’s Famous, and other brands globally. The role requires a strong refrigeration background, a 50% travel commitment, and a Bachelor’s in Engineering with 5+ years of related experience, plus relevant

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering or related field and 5+ years of related experience in operations, maintenance and optimization of Ammonia Refrigeration systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
• RETA CIRO certification or equivalent certification; required.
• Possess a deep theoretical understanding of industrial refrigeration systems and can apply that knowledge to the roles and responsibilities.
• Strong reading, math, writing, analytical skill required.
• 50% travel to other locations.

Responsibilities

• Support US Fresh and Packaged Meat Facilities with capital infrastructure planning.
• Assist in developing designs and selecting equipment for refrigeration systems.
• Plan and budget utilities engineering improvement projects and optimize facilities.
• Research and test new technology, analyze operations, and improve existing systems.
