Job summary

Digital Realty is seeking a Sr Manager, Utility Contracts to lead negotiations and execution of utility-facing agreements for large-scale data center projects. You will work with development, acquisitions, legal, energy, and operations teams to align contract strategy with project timelines and Power-path requirements.

The role requires 5–8 years negotiating utility contracts, deep knowledge of U.S. electricity markets and interconnection processes, and strong project-management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Energy Management, or related field.
• 5–8 years of experience negotiating and managing contracts in energy/utility infra sectors.
• Direct experience with utility service/ interconnection agreements, PPAs, or similar contracts.
• Strong understanding of U.S. electricity markets, ISO/RTO structures, and NERC standards.
• Knowledge of large-load interconnection processes and relevant regulatory environments.
• Ability to interpret commercial, legal, risk provisions in complex agreements.
• Excellent project and stakeholder management with multi-priority deadlines.
• Experience supporting data center or large energy-intensive projects preferred.
• Knowledge of FERC, PUC processes; advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead negotiation and execution of utility-facing agreements such as service and interconnection contracts.
• Coordinate utility-related activities across multiple teams for site decisions and investment.
• Organize discussions to identify risks, dependencies, and key decisions.
• Manage timelines, approvals, and milestones to support power path requirements.
• Communicate commercial, operational, legal, credit, and risk provisions to leadership.
• Track open issues and escalate risks to drive timely resolution.
• Maintain records of agreements, amendments, compliance, and milestones.
• Monitor interconnection process changes and regulatory developments.
• Build relationships with utility providers, consultants and partners.
• Improve contract templates, negotiation workflows, and reporting tools.
