Job summary

Digital Realty is seeking a Lead Engineer to manage and improve mission critical data center facilities operations. You’ll ensure 24/7 coverage, inspect systems, oversee maintenance, and coordinate with vendors to keep critical infrastructure running smoothly.

The role emphasizes HVAC, electrical and mechanical skills, plus experience with data center equipment and a strong focus on safety and procedural discipline.

Qualifications

• AA/AS degree or equivalent; data center experience preferred.
• Trade license or certification from technical education/training.
• Facilities maintenance certification.
• Experience with mission critical data equipment and fast-paced environments.
• Strong HVAC, mechanical, and electrical skills.
• Understanding of computer systems; proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and processes precisely.
• Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift, one weekend day weekly, and overtime as needed.
• Ability to walk for long periods, work outdoors in weather, and lift heavy objects.

Responsibilities

• Monitor building infrastructure systems and perform routine maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, electrical, and other building systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Assemble and commission data center equipment.
• Prepare Change Management Forms and Methods of Procedure (MOPs).
• Schedule maintenance with vendors and ensure safety compliance.
• Respond to emergencies and customer concerns as needed.
