Job summary

SEIU-USWW in Alameda, CA seeks a Coordinator to lead a team of union staff, directing contract enforcement and member engagement across the Los Angeles area. You will oversee staff development, data management, and campaign planning, working with organizers, researchers, and others to advance organizing efforts.

The role requires strong leadership, negotiation skills, and the ability to drive complex campaigns in a fast-paced, diverse environment. Travel within California may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with at least five years of related work experience.
• Commitment to social and economic justice and improving the lives of working people.
• At least 5 years of experience leading in member representation, contract negotiations and worker organization.
• Ability to build a team and coordinate the work of others effectively.
• Experience planning and running comprehensive organizing and contract campaigns.
• Excellent interpersonal skills in a fast-paced, diverse team environment.
• Ability to work independently, manage assignments, stay organized and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication; proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail and databases.

Responsibilities

• Direct a team of internal organizing staff in contract enforcement and member actions.
• Lead staff supervision, training, and performance evaluations.
• Design and implement member education programs to ID, recruit and develop leaders.
• Plan and coordinate major campaigns with division drivers and organizers.
• Track member data and engagement metrics in union database.
• Perform advanced case management for boards, adjustments, arbitration or legal actions.
• Engage in labor relations and contract negotiations with multiple parties.
