Job summary

SEIU USWW is seeking an External Organizing Department team member to mobilize thousands of California workers, educate, recruit and develop worker leaders, and advance union campaigns. You will coordinate with organizers, researchers, and communicators to plan actions, mobilize at worksites, and engage members in political programs.

The role requires travel, bilingual preferred but not required, and strong communication and organizing skills. This is a full-time on-site position with benefits.

Qualifications

• Equivalent experience in labor or community organizing.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

• Educate, agitate and motivate workers to join the union.
• Identify, recruit, train and develop worker leaders and committees.
• Contribute to campaign planning and execution with organizers, communicators and researchers.
• Plan mobilizations and turnout for worksite actions and events.
• Maintain accurate records and calendars for campaigns.
• Engage members in union political programs and activities.
