Job summary

Bowhead is seeking an experienced Unified Communications Engineer to support a DoD-related enterprise Cisco Unified Communications environment. You will manage CUCM, CUBE/SBC, SIP trunks, and Unity Connection, ensuring high availability and optimal call routing and VoIP performance.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting complex voice issues, implementing configuration changes, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to maintain secure, compliant communications systems.

Qualifications

• Education includes a High School diploma or GED as a minimum; a Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, Telecommunications, Engineering or related field is preferred.
• Five or more years of professional experience in enterprise telecommunications or unified communications.
• Three or more years with CUCM, CUBE/SBC, SIP, voice gateways, dial plans, and advanced voice troubleshooting.
• CCNA certification required; CCNP Collaboration preferred.
• Strong knowledge of VoIP technologies, SIP signaling, RTP, TCP/IP, QoS, and related network services.

Responsibilities

• Administer, operate, and troubleshoot CUCM and related UC infrastructure.
• Configure CUBE/SBC functionality, SIP trunks, voice gateways, and call routing.
• Maintain Cisco Unity Connection and voicemail services.
• Design and manage dial plans, route patterns, and calling search spaces.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of voice, signaling, and interoperability issues.
• Analyze SIP signaling and call flows to resolve complex voice issues.
• Execute system changes, upgrades, patches, backups, and certificate management.
• Coordinate with network, cybersecurity, vendor, and customer teams to implement changes.
