Job summary

Great American Insurance Group’s Specialty Human Services Division seeks a Senior Underwriter or Underwriting Specialist to join the Cincinnati team. The role supports the Pacific Northwest territory with occasional travel and is based on-site in Cincinnati four days a week, with one day remote.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance or related field and 5+ years of underwriting experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Generally 5+ years of underwriting or related experience.
• Completion of or progress toward AU/CPCU/CIC/INS/ARM preferred.
• Occasional travel required.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites new and renewal business per underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
• Analyzes risk data to inform coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Collaborates with actuaries, agents, brokers and clients to obtain necessary information.
• Orders and reviews motor vehicle reports, loss history, outside inspections, and other reports as needed.
• Ensures documentation of underwriting decisions and regulatory compliance.
• Evaluates existing policies for renewal or modification and communicates decisions clearly.
• Keeps abreast of industry trends and regulatory changes.
• Maintains relationships to generate new business and retain profitable accounts.
• Interprets and markets products and services; performs other duties as assigned.
