Job summary

Great American Risk Solutions, part of Great American Insurance Group, seeks a senior production underwriter based in Cincinnati. The role focuses on risk selection, pricing, retention, and profitability within a supportive, on-site team environment. Expect collaboration across underwriting, claims, and shared services to drive results.

Candidates should have 3–10+ years of commercial underwriting experience, with Excess and Surplus Lines a plus. CPCU is a plus. Travel to brokers is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• 3-10+ years of commercial underwriting experience.
• Excess and Surplus Lines experience is a plus.
• Strong communication skills to build and leverage customer relationships and to successfully market products and services.
• Hands-on experience with rating systems, MS Word, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability per divisional objectives.
• Support business goals using independent judgment and initiative.
• Maintain a high level of customer service.
• Analyze coverage and limit requests and decide terms to offer.
• Price business per company guidelines.
• Assess risk quality and compliance and initiate loss prevention actions.
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers to attract and retain profitable business.
• Visit agents and brokers to retain accounts and develop new opportunities.
• Interpret, explain, and market products and services.
• Provide technical underwriting guidance to peers and other functions.
