Job summary

Selective Insurance Company in Indianapolis is seeking an Inside Underwriting back-up to support open territories as needed, and to assist with underwriting, quoting, and issuing renewal policies. You will work with agents to meet state profitability and growth objectives with limited on-site visits.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with desktop tools including underwriting and email systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers/peers.
• Ability to adapt to change as the company evolves its strategy.
• Must have a valid state driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and process renewal policies with pricing and guidelines.
• Answer calls from agents and adjust policy information per authority.
• Quote, accept, decline, modify, and renew risks within authority.
• Provide underwriting guidance and communicate decisions to customers.
• Develop relationships with customers, managers, peers, and agents.
• Monitor renewal premiums and seek cross-selling opportunities.
• Develop knowledge of industry and competitors.
