Job summary

CopperPoint Insurance Companies is seeking a Senior Underwriter to support short- and long-term strategies by underwriting disciplined commercial lines and shaping agency marketing in the Western United States.

In this role, you will partner with a business development representative, analyze risk, price according to guidelines, and nurture strong agency relationships to drive profitable growth. The position allows remote or hybrid work depending on location.

Qualifications

• BS/BA college degree in business administration, finance or marketing.
• 5-7 years of commercial insurance experience.
• Advanced knowledge of commercial underwriting incl. Workers’ Compensation, Property and Casualty.
• Strong sales and marketing skills with ability to qualify opportunities and close deals.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze commercial lines accounts and make sound risk decisions based on exposure, hazards and controls.
• Price business according to underwriting guidelines and balance risk with profitability.
• Maintain and develop agency relationships; present proposals to agencies.
• Mentor and train less experienced underwriters; collaborate with business development reps.
• Ensure strong internal and external customer service and relationship management.
