Job summary

CopperPoint Insurance Companies is seeking an Executive Underwriter to drive profitable growth by applying high-level underwriting expertise across an assigned territory. The role partners with Business Development to strengthen agency relationships, deliver results, and mentor junior underwriters.

The Executive UW will train and coach less experienced staff, serve as subject matter expert, and educate agency staff on products, services, and underwriting philosophy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Advanced knowledge of insurance principles, rates, rules, forms, procedures, regulations, coverages, and business processes.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes commercial lines accounts to make sound decisions based on risk characteristics, exposure analysis, hazard recognition and controls.
• Prices business according to underwriting guidelines and pricing guidelines.
• Balances pricing and risk selection to produce profit and growth while maintaining producer relations.
• Communicates with agency personnel on underwriting issues including declinations, cancellations, exposure concerns and loss control survey results.
• Presents new and renewal proposals to agency personnel.
• Maintains high level of customer service internally and externally.
• Meets with agency personnel regularly to develop positive relationships.
• Works with business development to hold agencies accountable for flow, hit ratio, new business and retention goals.
• Acts as a resource to others for complex problems and internal training.
• Educates agency staff on company products, services and underwriting philosophy.
• Trains and mentors less experienced underwriting team members.
