Job summary

AXA XL, the P&C and specialty risk division of AXA, seeks a Senior Underwriter for the US Middle Market Construction team. This role focuses on managing a construction portfolio, determining risk, and developing policy wordings within delegated authority.

You will collaborate with multiple internal teams to grow profitable exposure. The candidate should have solid commercial underwriting experience in construction, strong broker relationships, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with advanced education and/or professional designations such as CPCU, IIA, CRIS preferred but not required.
• Underwriting experience focused on construction accounts and related risk assessment.
• Strong insured/broker interaction and relationship-building abilities.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for internal teams and brokers.
• Strong organizational, time-management and multi-tasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Market to Middle Market producers to secure new and renewal construction business.
• Review submissions and risk history to determine risk level per appetite guidance and Regulations.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance, Accounting, Marketing, Regulatory, Analytics).
• Determine quotes or declinations and calculate rates using approved models.
• Develop and modify policy wording within delegated authority when standard forms are unsuitable.
• Cross-sell products and services and support service delivery in construction lines.
