AXA XL in the United States is seeking a Senior Underwriting Officer - Construction to lead technical underwriting efforts for the Middle Market. You will guide risk selection, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to strategic expansion in construction lines of business.

The role emphasizes deep construction market knowledge, thought leadership and the ability to translate market insights into practical product and process improvements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher with a background in underwriting in construction lines.
Industry certifications (CPCU/CRIS/RPLU) preferred but not required.
Experience with mid-sized commercial P&C clients in the US market.

Responsibilities

Provide expert-level technical support to underwriters and use referral authority to grow profitable business.
Monitor portfolio performance with underwriting, claims and actuarial teams.
Partner with product, underwriting and brokers to enhance market offerings.
Drive underwriting strategy and risk selection using market insights and loss trends.
Build relationships across Claims, Compliance, Legal and other functions for construction lines.
Represent AXA XL as a construction SME at industry conferences.
