Job summary

AXA XL, the P&C and specialty risk division of AXA, seeks a Construction Underwriter to market to Middle Market producers, assess risk for contractors, and determine quotes. The role involves cross-functional collaboration and travel up to 25% across the U.S. Middle Market Construction team.

You’ll review submissions, use rating models, and develop policy wording when standard forms aren’t suitable. A bachelor’s degree is required with CPCU/IIA/CRIS preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Underwriting experience related to construction managers, general contractors, and trade contractors.
• Strong insured and broker interaction to promote products.
• Excellent written and oral communication with internal teams and external brokers.
• Outstanding organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Willingness to travel ~25%.

Responsibilities

• Marketing to Middle Market producers to secure new and renewal business in construction.
• Reviewing Middle Market submission information and risk appetite guidance.
• Coordinating with internal divisions to support our businesses.
• Determining quote or declination of risks.
• Calculating rates and premium charges using approved models.
• Developing and modifying policy wording under delegated underwriting Authority.
• Actively cross-sell products and services.
• Support service standards in delivery of construction products and services.
• Collaborate with other underwriters on cross-marketing goals.
