Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a senior electrical engineer to design underground transmission lines up to 500 kV, lead a design team, and coordinate with clients. A BS in engineering and a current PE license are required, with CYMCAP and cable-tensioning proficiency strongly preferred. The role offers hybrid work and a generous relocation package.

The candidate must be bilingual in Spanish and English, with 12+ years of leadership experience and familiarity with NESC, EPRI, IEC and IEEE standards.

Qualifications

• BS degree from ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Current PE license.
• Proficiency with CYMCAP modeling.
• Proficiency with cable tensioning calculations.
• 12+ years leading a design team on complex underground transmission projects.
• Design experience with code requirements (NESC, EPRI, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI 318).
• Experience with cost estimate development and scheduling.
• XLPE cable design experience.
• Experience preparing installation and procurement specifications.
• Knowledge of right-of-way requirements, bonding schemes, and construction documents.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Design complex underground transmission lines up to 500 kV.
• Lead cost analyses and development of design criteria; plan siting and routing.
• Develop duct bank layouts and trenchless designs; cable pulling calculations.
• Perform ampacity calculations and bonding scheme studies.
• Develop riser structures and structural loading.
• Create specifications for cable procurement and installation.
• Coordinate with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components.
• Direct project team of engineers, designers and drafters.
