Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced engineer to design underground transmission lines up to 500 kV. You will lead a small project team, coordinate with vendors and clients, and develop duct bank layouts and cable-procurement specifications.

The role requires 7+ years in underground transmission projects, proficiency with CYMCAP, XLPE design, and strong code knowledge. Hybrid work with in-office 3 days per week and a relocation package offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from ABET/CEAB-accredited program.
• Proficiency with CYMCAP modeling.
• Proficiency with cable tensioning calculations and/or software.
• 7+ years of underground transmission project experience.
• Design experience with code requirements (NESC, IEC, IEEE, etc).
• Experience with cost estimates and schedule coordination.
• Experience with XLPE cable design.
• Experience preparing installation/specification documents.
• Knowledge of right-of-way requirements and bonding schemes.
• Knowledge of technical drawing production and design techniques.
• Familiarity with standards (NESC, EPRI Green Book, IEC, CSA, IEEE).
• MS Office proficiency and strong communication.
• Attention to detail in engineering deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Design underground transmission lines up to 500 kV and develop routing/siting.
• Develop duct bank layouts, trenchless designs, and cable-pulling calculations.
• Prepare specifications for installation and procurement of materials.
• Coordinate with vendors and clients on line components.
• Lead a small project team of engineers, designers and drafters.
• Perform ampacity calculations and bonding scheme determinations.
