Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced engineer to design underground transmission lines up to 500 kV. The role involves cost analyses, routing challenges, duct bank layouts, and manhole placement. You will develop cable procurement specs and coordinate with vendors and clients.

You will lead a small project team, ensure schedules and budgets, and apply codes and standards (NESC, IEC, IEEE). The position offers hybrid work and a relocation package based on location.

Qualifications

• Requires a BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Proficiency with CYMCAP modeling and cable tensioning calculations.
• 7+ years on underground transmission projects with budget and schedule awareness.
• Experience with XLPE cable design and development of installation specifications.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards (NESC, IEC, IEEE, etc.).
• Proficiency in MS Office and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design underground transmission lines for voltages up to 500kV.
• Conduct cost analyses and develop design criteria and routing solutions.
• Develop duct bank layouts, trenchless designs, and manhole placements.
• Prepare specifications for installation and procurement of components.
• Coordinate with vendors and clients to specify line components.
• Direct a small project team of engineers, designers, and drafters.
