Job summary

AeroVironment in Moorpark, CA is seeking a Sr. Product Engineer to lead sustaining engineering for UAV systems used in military and commercial applications.

You will modify structural components, assemblies, payloads, and ground equipment, and support manufacturing through BOMs, drawings, and tooling. Responsibilities include design verification testing, configuration management in PLM, supporting production, and coordinating with suppliers and customers to resolve issues and implement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Lean Six Sigma experience or Green Belt certification.
• 8-12 years of related experience in engineering design and production support.
• Experience with UAVs plus RF, digital, and communications electronics design, electronics manufacturing troubleshooting, PCB layout, schematics and assemblies, CAD (Altium), including ASME Y14 drawing standards.
• Experienced using configuration management principles.
• Demonstrated knowledge of engineering fundamentals, mathematics, physics, material properties, electronics, systems, software.
• Experience building production assemblies documentation for production use.

Responsibilities

• Lead sustaining engineering support for UAV systems, including design modifications of components and assemblies.
• Manage product line configuration and change orders in Oracle PLM.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, suppliers and customers.
• Act as technical POC for ongoing support and change initiation; manage issues escalated to engineering.
• Support proposals, report writing, and review of production contracts.
• Lead transition of new products and variants into production.
• Release and update engineering design documentation, BOMs, manufacturing procedures, tooling, and test equipment.
• Lead development, testing and release of product improvements with PMs and design engineers.
• Provide obsolescence management and customer failure analysis support.
• Collaborate with suppliers, purchasing and planning to resolve technical issues affecting production.
• Determine methods for new assignments and may coordinate teams (Team Lead).
