Job summary

AV in Moorpark, CA seeks a Sr. Electrical Engineer to design, develop and maintain electrical control systems for small unmanned aircraft vehicles. You will select components, analyze specifications for reliability and safety, and document electronic and mechanical subsystems.

The role involves hands-on design and testing, collaboration with avionics and RF teams, and supporting flight-test operations under ITAR guidelines. Travel up to 30% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient with office software and engineering tools.
• Altium Designer experience for schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Experience in RF, embedded control, and FPGA domains.
• Experience with power electronics and battery tech.
• Familiarity with LVDS, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, USB.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% for flight tests.

Responsibilities

• Operate CAD/engineering tools to perform design tasks for electrical systems.
• Coordinate manufacturing, installation, and testing to meet specifications and safety requirements.
• Inspect installations and ensure conformance to design and safety standards.
• Collaborate with avionics, embedded systems, and RF teams; support flight tests.
• Troubleshoot complex systems and document designs with drawings and descriptions.
• Perform design/analysis tasks; assist in budgeting and cost estimation; apply HDL, C/C++, PCB design processes.
