Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer to join our design team.

You will work across controls, architecture, and simulation to drive development of unmanned systems for defense and commercial platforms. Expect involvement from requirements definition through validation and verification, including modeling, testing, and documentation. You will lead cross-functional teams, allocate requirements, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring compliance with safety and program

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, CS/Engineering, Electrical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering required or equivalent.
• 12–15 years of systems engineering experience, aerospace preferred.
• Proficiency with C/C++ and Matlab.
• Experience with requirements traceability through the full SDLC.
• Experience in developing system test plans and reports.

Responsibilities

• Oversee requirements traceability and evolution through the system development cycle.
• Provide weekly status of system development progress with requirements burn down.
• Allocate requirements to subsystem & engineering coordination.
• Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide direction.
• Develop instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition.
• Provide input for model development and simulation analysis.
• Develop systems test plans, procedures and reports.
• Review and interpret customer specifications effectively.
• Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses and influence architecture.
• Work independently on new or special assignments and mentor others.
