Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. in Petaluma, CA is seeking an Electrical Engineer III to design, develop, modify and evaluate electronic parts and systems for small unmanned aircraft hardware.

You will select components based on specifications, reliability and cost, and contribute to cross-functional teams across avionics, embedded systems and RF links. Requirements include a BS in Electrical Engineering and 5–8 years of relevant experience, proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient with office software and tools in area of expertise.
• Experienced with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Experience in RF, embedded control, FPGA, and power electronics.

Responsibilities

• Performs simulation and detailed design for digital and analog circuits.
• Drives system integration, assembly procedures, and test procedures.
• Documents designs with engineering drawings and descriptions.
• Troubleshoots complex systems from hardware and software perspectives.
• Designs, builds, and tests prototypes efficiently.
• Works with avionics, embedded systems, and RF links.
• Writes software to support sensor and embedded processor integration.
• Performs board design including architecture, schematics, layout, bring-up and documentation.
