Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in the United States seeks a seasoned engineer to analyze and design fan/compressor air systems, using 1D flow modeling and CFD to support turbomachinery development.

You will specify test plans, review engine/test data, and optimize air-system architectures to meet safety, design life, and performance goals. This onsite role in Middletown, CT requires U.S. citizenship for security clearance and may involve up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering; 5+ years in turbomachinery analysis and design, or advanced degree with 3+ years of turbomachinery experience.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required for security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design fan/compressor air systems using 1D compressible flow modeling and CFD.
• Generate CFD-based thermal boundary conditions and models for rotor and casing heat transfer.
• Specify engine validation test plans and compare analytical models to engine data.
• Optimize air system architecture to meet safety, design life, and performance goals.
• Travel up to 10% and lead in cross-disciplinary teams.
