Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Senior Counsel in California to independently handle a caseload of higher exposure cases and more complex litigation matters, including Major Case and Complex Claims depending on line of business.

You will leverage trial experience, conduct advanced legal research, draft pleadings, attend court events, and mentor junior attorneys while delivering exceptional value to insured clients and Claim partners.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of insurance defense litigation experience as a practicing attorney.
• Proven track record of litigating jury trials and favorable courtroom outcomes.
• Strong ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Leverage trial experience to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolution.
• Draft substantive pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other legal documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and other appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and Claim partners.
• Mentor attorneys and support staff.
