Job summary

Travelers seeks a Senior Counsel to independently handle a caseload of higher exposure cases and more complex litigation matters, including Major Case and Complex Claim work. You will deliver optimum results for insured clients and mentor junior attorneys.

You will leverage trial experience, conduct advanced research, draft substantial pleadings, and collaborate with experts to develop case strategies and testimony.

Qualifications

• No-fault experience and handling Examinations Under Oath; 7+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Strong aptitude for trying cases to a jury with proven courtroom outcomes.
• Advanced oral and written advocacy with experience in summary judgment or appellate matters.
• In-depth knowledge of bench, bar and local jurisdictional practices.
• Ability to communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
• Leadership through mentoring and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle high-exposure cases and complex litigation matters, including major and complex claims.
• Conduct advanced legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs and discovery.
• Attend court events, depositions and appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners.
• Collaborate with experts to develop case strategies and testimony.
• Build relationships with clients and business partners and mentor staff.
• Provide internal training and legal updates to clients and claim partners.
• Utilize case management tech and travel as required.
