Job summary

Travelers is seeking a Senior Counsel to independently manage a caseload of higher exposure cases and complex litigation, including major claims. You will leverage trial experience and advanced advocacy to guide cases through verdicts, settlements, and appeals while mentoring junior attorneys and coordinating with claim partners.

You will handle substantive pleadings, research, and strategy development, traveling as needed to meet client and court obligations, all within a nationwide framework

Qualifications

• 7+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Strong aptitude for trying cases to a jury with a history of successful courtroom outcomes.
• Advanced oral and written advocacy with success in summary judgments or appeals.

Responsibilities

• Independently handle a caseload of higher exposure cases and complex litigation.
• Apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions.
• Conduct advanced legal research and draft substantive pleadings and motions.
• Attend court events, depositions and other appointments.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and partners.
• Collaborate with experts to develop case strategies and testimony.
• Mentor junior attorneys and staff; share knowledge and updates.
