Job summary

RK&K, a leading engineering firm, seeks a Senior Project Engineer to lead transportation design and delivery across project delivery methods including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and P3. The role involves preparing roadway designs with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and contributing to reports, modeling, and plan production tasks.

Fully remote candidates will be considered, though a Fairfax, VA-based hybrid arrangement is preferred. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in transportation infrastructure design.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in VA or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and modeling.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on transportation projects (highways, interchanges, tollways, transit corridors).
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices to develop innovative design solutions.
• Serve as a technical liaison with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specs, cost estimates, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposals, design-build pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
