Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects across the firm, including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and P3.

You'll prepare roadway designs using OpenRoads Designer (ORD), produce technical reports, and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with clients and contractors. Remote options exist; Fairfax, VA hybrid preferred, some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in transportation infrastructure design.
• Active VA PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficient in ORD for roadway design and modeling.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with multiple state DOT standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on highways, interchanges, tollways, and transit corridors.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices to develop cost-effective design solutions.
• Serve as liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specifications, cost estimates, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposals, design-build pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
